Both minimalist and thoughtfully manicured, Ashley Cort’s cakes have become a sought-after product in Asheville. This one-day workshop with the former OWL Bakery lead baker and current All Day Darling baker will produce decorated cakes from start to finish. In addition to baking cakes and creating fillings and frostings, Ashley will teach us about some of her pioneering plant-based work in natural cake decoration. We’ll forage for a variety of edible plants, discuss dyes and designs, and walk through the steps of decoration. Participants will each leave with their personally decorated cake, as well as a revolving cake stand and icing spatula.

Ashley Cort grew up baking alongside her grandfather, a former baker at the Grove Park Inn and Biltmore Estate. After time spent studying herbalism, beekeeping, and more, Ashley took a job at OWL Bakery, where her talents and thoughtfulness across the board led her to be head baker. Her interest in plants permeates her baking, with foraged goods on display in her croissants and hand-picked herbs decorating her cakes.
